Interview

  • What are your greatest personal traits?
People tell me I have a "natural" presence. I'm never trying to be anything, except maybe a better me.
  • What’s your lifestyle? What makes you who you are?
I decided a while back to leave the corporate world, move to the country and do a little experiment: only do what I love, simplify, and see if my standard of living improved by doing less of what we consider "day-to-day routines." To my amazement, the experiment worked better than I thought, and makes me a generally happier person. It's not always perfect, but I feel like I have higher quality problems now, and I'm able to pass on that light-heartedness and ease to others, or at least that's the intention.
  • What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to spend time in the mountains and when I have the time to do it, I'm a wood sculptor. I make negative space abstract sculptures and bowls. I also love to travel and work on my property in the country.
  • What do you do for fun?
It may sound cliche, but I like meeting new people and getting to know each other on a deep level. Discovering how someone acts when exploring something new, listening to stories about what makes you tick, or maybe just a sweet kiss or a hug. Fun can be had doing just about anything, as long as the person I'm with is open to forming a connection.
  • How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or you are more of a homebody?
I travel quite a bit. I read once "a trip to a foreign place is worth more than a college degree in the amount you learn," and I believe it. Being exposed to different people and experiences make one a better person, I think. Traveling is great, but most of all it makes coming home to a special place and familiar people so much more enjoyable.
  • What should others absolutely know about you?
I spend much of my time in or near a hilltop cabin in the mountains and I like to surround myself with nature as much as possible. It keeps me balanced and able to focus completely. I try to be fully present and available, so a great time can be had in most situations, and I think taking those breaks in the country really makes a difference in how I interact with people. Some people meditate or dance all night, I like to hike my cares away.
